Here are rules and policies that the club has adopted over the years
that hitherto have not been written down. Most are old Committee decisions.
Whilst not having the status of the Constitution, they may be found useful
as guidance notes. They were approved by the Committee Meeting of 13
Dec 2000 except where new decisions are shown.
1. MEMBERSHIP
1.1 The annual membership shall be £6.
1.2 New members joining for the next year prior to January (but not
earlier than 1 November) shall be considered full members from the date
of joining.
1.3 Lapsed members who wish to rejoin in the year of lapse must pay
the full membership fee.
1.4 The membership fee for new members after January shall be £1
per month remaining in the year, from the first day of the month of joining.
1.5 Should an AGM decide to change the subscription rate, the new rate
will become effective immediately but not retrospectively (Committee
decision, Feb 2001).
2. MEETING FEES
2.1 The meeting fee is currently £1 but may be waived for members
giving the talk, demonstration or part of a talk or demonstration.
3. VISITORS
3.1 Visitors may attend up to two meetings for the usual meeting fee.
Thereafter they shall be expected to join.
4. THE SHOW
4.1 Whilst due caution must be made by the organisers of the show to
avoid a loss, it is not the policy of the club to make a profit out of
the show.
5. THE COMMITTEE
5.1 The first Committee Meeting after the AGM normally allocates job
titles to Committee Members, other than the elected Chairman, Secretary,
Treasurer and Membership Secretary.
5.2 It is normal practice that many non-committee members have specified
jobs as if they were on the Committee. They should be recognised as such
in official listings.
6. THE PRESIDENT
6.1 There is no official recognition of President in the Constitution.
In practice, however, Sir Norman Echlin has retained this title since
the club's founding.
7. HONORARY MEMBERS
7.1 Honorary members (who pay no subscription but have full membership
status) may be elected by the Committee from time to time and a list
should be retained by the Membership Secretary.
8. HOT KEY MAGAZINE & COVER DISKS FOR VISITORS?
It was decided at the Committee Meeting of 12th February 2003 that visitors
should pay £1 for back issues of Hot Key magazines (not the issue
published on the day of that meeting, which would be free). Cover Disks
should be paid for by visitors at the rate of £1 each, including
the issue on the day of the meeting.
Please send additions, amendments and objections to the
Chairman for consideration by the Committee.
